Tuition and Fees for the 2020-2021 School Year

Phase3 takes a different approach to tuition and fees than most private schools. Phase3 does not sell education services and families are not consumers of education services. Instead, Phase3 connects families, educators and students to create nurturing learning communities.

Tuition is one of the important resources that Phase3 families pool together to fund a great learning environment for our children. You should view Phase3 as a cooperative effort with other like-minded families and educators, of which tution is just one aspect.

Your tuition is not part of a contract with a faceless institution, but rather your commitment to the Phase3 community of families to do your part as we raise and educate our children together.

BTW, if you have an idea about how we can improve the funding model for Phase3 (using a Cooperative structure for example), please let us know. Our goal is to create a diverse community of families and students, working with Master Teachers in facilities we can all be proud of.

Toddler

The Phase3 Toddler Program serves children from the ages of 18 months to 3 years.

Toddler Program

The Toddler Program serves children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years of age. The program runs:

  • Monday – Friday
  • 8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

With Pre-care and After-care options available from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tuition for the program is based on a student’s Year of Enrollment. This establishes a student’s Tuition Base. For example students entering the program in the 2020-2021 school year, secure a 2020-2021 Tuition Base. Each school year will have a different Tuition Base, which comes with different features.

The 2020-2021 Tuition Base caps annual tuition increases at 1% per year until your child completes Elementary school.

As your child moves from the Toddler, to the Primary Full Day and on to the Lower and then Upper Elementary Programs, she will maintain the 2020-2021 Tuition Base and pay the tuition corresponding to the program she is in.

Why did we do it this way? In order to make it possible for families to budget for their tuition costs years in advance. As a Phase3 family, you and your children will develop strong relationships with teachers, staff and with other families and students. A predictable tuition schedule allows you invest in relationships without fear of losing them due to unexpected tuition increases.

As you will notice from the Tuition Schedule below, Families starting in the 2021-2022 school year will be part of the 2021-2022 Tuition Base and so on.

How Tuition Bases Work

A Sample Tuition over 6 years

At Phase3 we use Tuition Bases to enable families to plan their education budgets years in advance. Let’s use Katie as an example. Katie is a vivacious 3 year old that will be 3½ at the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

In 2020-2021 Katie (3 ½) enters the Preschool ½ Day Program. Because she enrolled in the school in the 2020-2021 school year, Katie has a 2020-2021 Tuition Base. For the first year, Katie’s tuition is $ 9,983 per Academic Year (See Schedule 1 below).

Schedule 1 (Preschool: ½ Day)

  2020-2021 2021-2022 2022-2023 2023-2024 2024-2025 2025-2026
2020-2021 Base $ 9,983 $ 10,082 $ 10,183 $ 10,285 $ 10,388 $ 10,492
2021-2022 Base $ 10,981 $ 11,091 $ 11,201 $ 11,313 $ 11,427

In 2021-2022, Katie (now 4 1/2) becomes a full day Preschool student. Her 2020-2021 Tuition Base means that her annual tuition is $ 12,637, which is what a Preschool student with a Tuition Base of 2020-2021 would pay in the 2021-2022 school year (See Schedule 2 below).

Schedule 2 (Preschool: Full Day)

  2020-2021 2021-2022 2022-2023 2023-2024 2024-2025 2025-2026
2020-2021 Base $ 12,511 $ 12,637 $ 12,763 $ 12,891 $ 13,019 $ 13,150
2021-2022 Base $ 13,763 $ 13,900 $ 14,039 $ 14,180 $ 14,321

In 2022-2023, Katie (now 5 1/2) enters her last year of Preschool. Her 2020-2021 Tuition Base translates into an annual tuition of $ 12,763 — 1% higher than the year before. Toward the end of the school year, Katie’s parents learn that Katie is ready to move up to Lower Elementary.

2023-2024 is a big year for 6 1/2 year old Katie. She is now in Elementary School. As before, her Tuition Base is 2020-2021. This means that Katie’s family would pay $ 12,891 for the 2023-2024 school year. This amount would increase 1% every year after that. In 2024-2025 her tuition would be $ 13,019 and it 2025-2026 it would be $ 13,150. (See Schedule 3 below)

Schedule 3 (Lower Elementary)

  2020-2021 2021-2022 2022-2023 2023-2024 2024-2025 2025-2026
2020-2021 Base $ 12,778 $ 12,905 $ 13,034 $ 13,165 $ 13,296 $ 13,429
2021-2022 Base $ 14,055 $ 14,196 $ 14,338 $ 14,481 $ 14,626

In Upper Elementary, Katie’s tuition would continue increase at a very predictable 1% per year.

Budgeting Considerations

We do realize that finances are an important aspect of each family’s education decisions. Since we want you to have as much information as possible in order to make a sound decision, we suggest that you consider the following points as you make your decision.

  1. Phase3 does not charge Enrollment, or Re-Enrollment fees. Fees that can often add $1,000 or more to each child’s annual tuition.
  2. Phase3’s tuition structure (modest and predictable annual tuition increases) allows your family to plan and budget for your child’s education years in advance.
  3. For the 2020-2021 school year, if you have already paid one or more of these fees at another school, but wish to become a part of the Phase3 community, we will credit these payments toward your annual tuition.
  4. Phase3’s Academic Year contains 180 full academic days; this is about three weeks longer than the Academic Years of some area private schools. This should be included in your cost calculations.
  5. Phase3 offers language immersion, which is not offered by other private schools in the area; language immersion is a program feature that generally costs more at the schools that do offer it.
  6. Because Phase3 runs a lean administrative staff and we do not have extensive grounds to maintain, a larger percentage of your tuition payments go directly into the classrooms and educational programs. For example, we are able to pay higher teacher salaries and thus attract a much higher quality of education professionals.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions regarding tuition at Phase3.
